Cork novelist, Mary Malone, realised her dream of becoming a novelist when her phone rang unexpectedly during the winter of 2005.

Mary had submitted a manuscript to Dodder Books the previous year and had completely forgotten about it. She had already begun working on her next novel. Her debut novel, Love Match, is set in Kinsale (her favourite place!) and was launched in July 2006. Her second novel, All You Need Is Love, is set in Bandon and was published in October 2007.

 

Yet another dream came true when Poolbeg offered her a contract in December 2008. What a Christmas present! Her third novel, Never Tear Us Apart, was published by Poolbeg in May 2009. Her fourth, Love Is The Reason is due for publication by Poolbeg in Nov 2010. And another (Love Plus One) is due out sometime in 2011...

 

Mary's dearly departed father, Paddy McSweeney, instilled in Mary his own love of interesting tales. After his death, Mary felt it was time to finally write that book she had always been talking about and is still floating on air having realised her dream.

 

As well as being a novelist, Mary works in the Central Statistics Office in Cork. She also works as a freelance journalist and loves the variation between fact and fiction!

 

She lives in Templemartin, Bandon, Co. Cork with her husband, Pat, her sons, David and Mark, and their golden labrador, Prince!

 

When she's not working, writing or reading, she loves shopping with her Mum, walking Prince or travelling to the sun with her family!
